Drawing from a biographical account, four siblings are compelled to develop self-sufficiency as their parents—characterized by an aversion to responsibility and a bohemian disposition—simultaneously serve as both sources of inspiration and impediments to their development. The children's father, when in a state of sobriety, demonstrated exceptional intellect and magnetic charm, imparting knowledge in physics and geology while encouraging them to pursue life with audacity and confidence. However, his consumption of alcohol transformed him into a deceptive and harmful presence. Conversely, their mother rejected conventional domestic arrangements and declined to assume the obligations associated with child-rearing.
